It is our strong conviction that families need to be partnered with Christ’s Church in order to disciple their children. The primary ministry at 1st Pres to this end is the Children's Sunday School ministry. We have a wonderful team of volunteers and staff excited to develop a discipleship relationship with your child!
Children's Sunday School includes Nursery-5th grade children. For more information about the Nursery, please click here. Children gather each Sunday from 10:15 am-11:15 am in the Children's Wing. The location in which your child will join us depends on their age:
PreK-Kindergarten children gather in the PreK-K Department (PreK - 4 years old by August 15th).
1st-3rd grade children gather in the 1st-3rd Grade Department.
4th-5th grade children gather in the 4th-5th Grade Department.
Our Sunday school curriculum, The Gospel Project for Kids, and our team of volunteer volunteers and staff are offering you and your children Christ-centric and celebratory Good News each and every Sunday! The Gospel Project operates in 3-year cycles, moving our children through the entire Scriptures and then starting the cycle over again. The cumulative effect is that your children will be able to see God’s big story and how it really is all about Jesus! These materials engage not only the head (learn) but the heart (love) and the body (live)! And because all children from Nursery through 5th grade are studying the same biblical passage at age-appropriate levels, it’s now easier than ever to ask your children, “What did you learn in Sunday School?” The lessons consistently help our children develop one of the core biblical truths that the primary character of the Scriptures is our great God! At the same time, they help them see their place in God’s story.
All of the Sunday School departments have a regular routine to help children get acclimated. It includes a gathering time for hearing about one another’s week, growing the teacher-child and child-child relationship; music time including celebrating birthdays; Bible lesson time including engaging activities to help them experience the truths learned; prayer; and a closing play/game time to encourage our kids to develop relationships with one another.
If your children own a Bible, please have them bring it to Sunday School. If your children need a Bible, please let me know!
It is such a thrill to have a front-row seat to how the Lord is working in our children and adults through His Word!
